Walktober 2019 is here!
Our mission for the next month is to help families increase their daily physical activity using the Walktober Activity Grid for different ideas to help you get moving. Activities listed are simply ideas and suggestions, feel free to add in your favorites or substitute other activities. The goal is to be active for a minimum of 20 minutes per day, for as many days each week as you can. Use the links from the resources below to find great biking, walking, and hiking trails in the area.
There is a planned school-wide walk around downtown Concord scheduled the morning if Oct. 17th. Sign up to VOLUNTEER HERE!
Students, parents and school staff are invited to complete as much of the grid as possible by November 1st. There will be a school-wide prize for excellent participation!
Some activities may be completed during the school day, but our goal is to encourage students to be active during their own time and in their own way, doing things they enjoy, to help create a lifelong habit of physical fitness.

In years past, Walktober has been a fundraiser – this year it is not. With that said, you are always welcome to donate to the PTO!
You can support Walktober by:
- Encouraging your child/ren to be active for a minimum of 20 minutes per day for the entire month of October! The calendar your child brought home provides a visual reminder to get outside and be active, as well as a way to mark your progress!
- Volunteer at the School-wide walk. Each classroom will head out to walk around downtown Concord and experience some fun, fresh air and physical activity together as a community on Thursday, October 17 (rain date: October 18). We invite you to join students along the walk route to cheer them on or volunteer as a crossing guard (volunteer sign up to volunteer coming soon). Individual class departures will be announced by your child’s classroom teacher prior to the event. If you have questions, please contact the PTO at email@example.com.
We have listed some resources to assist you in getting out to explore the City of Concord and our beautiful state during this beautiful fall season!
